Farm Estate
The land and the plants
Across the more than 110 hectares of the estate, between oak forests and the Zancona stream marking the border, stretch several olive groves with over 1,200 olive trees — including several hundred centuries-old specimens of the Olivastra Seggianese variety, typical of the area. These produce an extra virgin olive oil with exceptional organoleptic qualities. Meanwhile, the vineyards — mainly Sangiovese — are planted on stony, volcanic soil constantly refreshed and dried by the wind. Located opposite the beautiful, modern winery, they yield grapes of exceptional quality, forming the perfect base for producing great wines.
At the start of summer, a large lavender field just a short distance from the main farmhouse brightens the view with its bloom and releases its characteristic fragrance into the air. Higher up, the estate is crowned by a vast hazelnut grove and truffle orchard, from which precious and aromatic truffles are harvested throughout the year.
Wine
The vineyards and winery of La Banditaccia are located along the Montecucco wine route, with the slopes of Mount Amiata behind and a breathtaking panorama in front, stretching from the hills of Montalcino to the ridges of the Grosseto province, barely hiding the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west and northwest. The grapes of La Banditaccia have long produced excellent wines, mostly from the great Tuscan Sangiovese, but also from an outstanding Merlot.
The estate is currently planting more vineyards, with both red and white native varieties, which will soon enrich and diversify production. At the moment, La Banditaccia produces 7 different wines. Among these are a fine Sangiovese Montecucco DOCG 2018, two robust Tuscan IGT reds, and a Tuscany Vermentino, fresher and easy to drink yet distinctive and enticing.
The Montecucco Riserva 2018 and “Zeferino”, the estate’s flagship Cru, are now available for tasting. Upon request, guests can visit the winery and sample the wines. Depending on the season, guests may also witness production activities firsthand: vineyard work, harvesting, and winemaking.

Extra virgin olive oil
The olive groves include more than 1,200 trees of various subspecies across the entire property. Most of the groves are harvested at the same time, and their fruit is processed into our certified Tuscan extra virgin olive oil (IGP).
Our oldest olive grove lies directly in front of the main house and stretches toward the stables.
These ancient and centuries-old trees belong to a subspecies (cultivar) known as Olivastra Seggianese — a highly distinctive variety that grows only around the Mount Amiata area, between 200 and 650 meters above sea level.
Thanks to this altitude and proximity to the mountains, these trees produce a particularly fine olive oil with an unsaturated fatty acid content of 78% or more, from which we craft bottles of this special Seggianese DOP extra virgin olive oil.
Lavender essential oil
The lavender essential oil produced by La Banditaccia is 100% pure and organic. Our lavender grows at 800 meters above sea level with southern exposure — an ideal position for healthy growth and blooming. From the lavender fields, there is a stunning view across the valley all the way to Mount Amiata. Photography lovers, painters, and lavender enthusiasts describe this place as enchanting and unspoiled. A stroll along this magnificent field will make you forget the frenzy of city life.
Lavender was already appreciated by the ancient Romans, used in their thermal baths and for making decoctions and infusions for body care. In ancient times, lavender was valued not only for its scent and personal hygiene but also as a disinfectant — in the Middle Ages and up to the 1700s, it was scattered and rubbed on floors as a natural disinfectant.
